The North Central Massachusetts Economic Development Council was created to plan and implement programs to create jobs and increase economic opportunity in the region. The North Central Region consists of 26 communities including the cities of Fitchburg, Gardner, and Leominster. The Council was formed in 2006 by a partnership of the North Central Massachusetts Development Corporation, Fitchburg State College, and Mount Wachusett Community College.
